Isabel Gillon

Being newly retired from a long(ish) teaching career has allowed me, at last, to rekindle my dream of studying art! The course has been great fun – meeting people, sharing ideas and mutual support and experimenting with a range of techniques, ideas and artists. Being a keen gardener and lover of the Orkney coast, I‘ve been interested in using photography to record accidental ‘environmental art’, as it occurs in the landscape and being in awe of artists like Andy Goldsworthy and Iain Hamilton Finlay, who create their work out of, and into, their own environments and landscapes. I’ve tried to give my take on the on-going problem of plastic pollution through works created by heat press and screen printing. Now I look forward to developing my garden over the summer and coming back in August for the NC Art and Design.
